Art Exhibits and Recent Projects at NEC:
June through August 2009: Northeast Summer Arts Blast! Classes and camps for youth and adults in Drama, Visual Art and Music.
 
July/August 2009: Six week Artist Residency with Ready At Will Dance Company.
 
May/June 2009: "Alive, Alive-O" An exhibit of mixed-media and fiber art by artists from Minnesota and Wisconsin. Part of 2009 Northeast Art-a-Whirl.
 
April 2009: NEC Members Show. Works on themes of Resurrection and springtime.
 
December/January 2008-09: "Raveling Mercies" An exhibit of art quilts on themes of blessing, loss & forgiveness by artists from Minnesota, Illinois & Pennsylvania. People's Choice Award and prize given to artist Sandra Brick.
 
October/November 2008: Drawings and Paintings by Nancy Janes of Interact Center for the Visual & Performing Arts.
 
September 2008: "The Rabbi of Capernaum" An original play written by Dean J. Seal and directed by Jon Ferguson of the Guthri Lab. Featuring both amateur and professional actors from the community.
 
August/September 2008: "Community, Hope, Joy & Faith" Paintings by DeAnne L. Parks. Part of Beauty That Speaks.
 
August/September 2008: "In Transit," part of Beauty That Speaks, a collection of exhibits by multiple faith communities in Minneapolis, addressing wholeness and justice in the community. The "In Transit" show focused on public transit and the ways people interact with one another and the environment when they step out of their cars; featuring Mandy Herrick & Collaborators with an original site-specific dance piece titled "Arriving/Departing" -- plus three short films by Sloppy Films creator John Akre, and poetry by Esther Perry & Wendy Brown Baez. Produced in cooperation with Mercy Seat Lutheran Church.    
 
 
 
August 2008: Six week Artist Residency with painter Chillon C. Leach.
 
June/July 2008: Paintings and Assemblage by Jonathan Hamilton.
 
June 2008: Wall To Wall Panel Discussion featuring Orin Rutchick, Chris Welsch & guests.
 
May 2008: Northeast Art-a-Whirl show at the Easel Street Gallery (part of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District and "Arts Avenue.")
 
December/January 2007-08: "Desert Star" An exhibit of works about blessing, loss, exile and recovery; sculpture, ceramics, paintings, fabric art & photography. Included the large sanctuary-installed exhibit "Heart in Hands," previously unexhibited works by photographer Orin Rutchick of the Minneapolis Photo Center.
